Barr and Arnold will appear on the New York-based show from their homes in Los Angeles on Tuesday, the same night of her weekly comedy series, "Roseanne." Among other things, they'll show some of their home videos, including shots taken on the set of "Roseanne."
The job is temporary. Maureen O'Boyle, the show's full-time anchor, will get Tuesday off, but return the next night.
The unusual debut comes during the February ratings "sweeps," when the networks and many syndicated series try unusual ways to boost their audiences. Conducted four times a year, the sweeps are important to local TV stations in helping set advertising rates.
\ Kris Aquino, the youngest daughter of President Corazon Aquino, moved closer to her ambition to become an international movie star when she signed a two-picture contract Friday with a Hong Kong company.
Aquino, 19, signed the contract with executive producer Raymond Wong, who will be her co-star in the first film, "Magic to Win 5."
"I never imagined this would happen," Aquino said after the signing ceremony at a Manila hotel. Her mother, she said, was "also very excited." Aquino, who appears on a weekly television sitcom, refused to say how much she would be paid.
\ Carole Gist of Michigan, Miss USA, is upset about not getting all the $144,000 in prizes she won last year but won't boycott the 1991 Miss USA pageant, her lawyer says.
Gregory Reed also says he objects to a contractual clause preventing Gist, 21, of Detroit, from using her title in commercial endorsements for two years.
Gist has missed all her 1991 appearances as Miss USA. Pageant officials said she's been ill. Reed said his client is well enough now to work and will appear at this year's pageant, to be televised Feb. 22 from Wichita, Kan., on CBS-TV.
Mike Clark of Los Angeles-based Madison Square Garden Productions, which is putting on the pageant, said he couldn't comment on Reed's allegations.
\ John Kluge, the Albemarle County billionaire, has suffered fire losses of about $2 million at his hunting and fishing lodge in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire at Mar Lodge.
Kluge bought the 19th century granite mansion on 77,000 acres, located about 60 miles west of Aberdeen, two years ago for about $26 million. It is near Balmoral castle, Queen Elizabeth's Scottish residence. The estate includes prime hunting land, and was used as a hunting retreat for businessmen who enjoyed the excellent stag and bird hunting and salmon fishing on the Dee River, which flows through the estate.
The blaze, which took 50 firefighters about seven hours to contain, gutted the central portion of the 30-bedroom mansion and the slate roof. The lodge's wings were not damaged.
The lodge was being renovated when the fire broke out, said Hugh Farmer, who lives near the mansion.
It was the second recent fire at the lodge. A small fire in the attic was put out in January.
