Ad veteran joins Poindexter

STUART DAVIS has joined Poindexter Associates Advertising in Roanoke as director of marketing and business development. A 30-year veteran of the advertising agency business, Davis started with McCann-Erikson in New York and worked with that agency in Tokyo, Mexico City, Brussels, London, San Juan and San Francisco. In 1986, he joined Foote, Cone & Belding International to direct the Mazda Motors account in Canada. In 1988 he was sent to Brussels to run the agency's European Mazda business. Davis returned to the U.S. in January and settled in Roanoke.

COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES

\ JAMES C. TURK and JOSEPH P. SCARTELLI have been appointed to the Radford University Foundation board of directors. Turk is chief U.S. District judge for the western district of Virginia. Scartelli is dean of the University's College of Visual and Performing Arts.

\ PATRICIA M. PRICE has been appointed assistant professor in the English Department of Virginia Western Community College.

\ AARON CONNER of Roanoke has been appointed to the Liberty University Board of Regents.

\ AMELIA C. VANGUNDY has been named assistant director for technical services of the John Cook Wyllie Library at Clinch Valley College.

\ J.C. POINDEXTER JR., son of Josephine and J. Carl Poindexter Sr. of Salem, has been named director of the Master of Science Management program at North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

MEDICAL

\ JAMES W. WEISS has been named administrator of the HCA Roanoke Valley Psychiatric Center in Salem.

\ MICHAEL A. FURROW has been named administrator of the Virginia Synod Lutheran Home in Roanoke.

\ DEIDRE M. EDWARDS has been promoted to coordinator of admissions for Bridges, the child and adolescent residential treatment center of Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg.

\ DR. JEAN ROBBINS has opened Diet Counseling and Nutrition Education in Salem.

ENGINEERING

\ GREGORY A. JONES has been promoted to vice president of Sherertz Franklin Crawford Shaffner, Inc., a Roanoke based architectural, engineering, planning and interior design company.

\ FREDERICK T.M. PRIBBLE has been named director of the Municipal Engineering Division of Draper Aden Associates.

RICHARD M. DiSALVO JR. has joined the company as director of engineering for the Blacksburg office. Draper Aden Associates is an engineering, planning and surveying company with offices of Blacksburg and Richmond.

ADVERTISING

\ DAVID MUNDY has joined the Lawler Ballard agency in Norfolk as an account supervisor. He was formerly a senior account executive with Finnegan & Agee in Roanoke.

\ MARILYN EVANS has been named classified advertising manager at the Roanoke Times & World-News. RON WILLIAMS has been named preprint coordinator in the advertising department.

INSURANCE

\ W. PATTON COLES IV has been promoted to senior vice president of McDonough Caperton Insurance Group, headquartered in Charleston, W.Va. Coles works out of the Roanoke office.

\ DARRELL L. SEMONES of Vinton has been named district manager of the Jerome E. MacDonald Agency of Aid Association for Lutherans.

\ CHRISTOPHER A. BEYER has joined the Life Insurance Co. of Virginia as a representative in the Roanoke office.

\ JAMES C. CUSTER has retired as an agent for Life Insurance Co. of Georgia in Roanoke after more than 24 years with the company and Southland Life Insurance Co., now a sister company of Life of Georgia.

\ JOSEPH S. NOVAK has been named executive director of Associated Risk Managers of Virginia, Inc. in Roanoke.
