ROANOKE MAN DIES, THREE INJURED IN CRASH

A Roanoke man died and three other people were injured Friday night when they were thrown from a car in an accident on U.S. 64 in Alleghany County, state police said.

Paul Andrew Thurston Jr., 21, of 2316 Highland Farm Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10:30 p.m. wreck, state police said.

The car's driver, Daniel Todd Walton, and Karen Renee Vance - both 18 years old and from Covington - remained in satisfactory condition at Roanoke Memorial Hospital late Saturday.

Another passenger, Lorie Ann Forbes, 16, of Covington, was in stable condition Saturday at Alleghany Regional Hospital.

State police said the car was traveling east about half a mile from Virginia 42 when it hit an embankment on the left side of U.S. 64 and overturned at least once. None of the occupants was wearing seat belts, state police said.
