N.C. MAN CHARGED IN POT POSSESSION

A 28-year-old North Carolina man is being held in Bland County on a drug charge resulting from a cooperative effort of two regional drug task forces.

Chester J. Holbrook of Greensboro, N.C., was arrested on Interstate 77 in Bland County Friday and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Sheriff T.J. Roseberry said Holbrook had a large quantity of marijuana in his car when he was stopped by Trooper J.T. Graham. Holbrook is being held here pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 18.

The investigation leading to the arrest was carried out by the Tazewell County Drug Task Force, composed of the county Sheriff's Office, state police and police departments in Tazewell, Richlands, Pocahontas and Bluefield, in cooperation with the Tri-County Drug Task Force, composed of state police and sheriff's offices in Bland, Wythe and Smyth counties.
