ALLEGHANY WINS DISTRICT WRESTLING TITLE

Alleghany had five individual champions and edged out Northside and William Byrd to win the Blue Ridge District wrestling tournament at Lord Botetourt on Saturday.

The Mountaineers finished with 165 1/2 points, seven better than second-place Northside and 11 more than third-place William Byrd.

Jeffrey Cody (119 pounds), Coyd Kimberlin (135), Robert Gillespie (140), Donnie Underwood (171) and Nathan Lynn (189) each won their weight classes for Alleghany.
