BOY DROPPED ON HEAD AWARDED $1.2 MILLION

A hospital has been ordered to pay $1.2 million to a blind, retarded boy who was dropped on his head by a nurse when he was 3 days old.

The Spokane County Superior Court jury also awarded $500,000 to Melanie Bond, the mother of Ricky Caddy.

Bond, 24, said the money will allow her son, now 6 years old, to live at her home in Davenport. He has been with his grandmother in Wenatchee, where the school district has paid for the child's physical therapy.
