PULASKI - David W. Ratcliff Sr., age 74, of 1117 Prospect Avenue, Pulaski, died Sunday night in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born in Pulaski, March 9, 1916, the son of the late Dexter Stone Ratcliff and Nannie Manuel Ratcliff. Mr. Ratcliff was president and general manager of the Vance Company. He was on the board of directors of Nelson Roanoke Corporation. He was a member of the Pulaski Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Pulaski Rotary Club, Pulaski Country Club, and the Thornspring Golf Club. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a veteran, having served during World War II in the United States Air Force. He was a pilot in the 8th Air Force. Mr. Ratcliff was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Wygal Ratcliff, and by two brothers, Dexter Obell Ratcliff and former Mayor Raymond Ratcliff. Surviving are one daughter, Sharon R. Bushong, Pulaski; two sons, David W. Ratcliff Jr., Pulaski; Michael Ratcliff, Pulaski; four grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. George B. Russell, Mrs. John P. Umberger, Mrs. William R. Rogers, Mrs. Ruth N. Money, all of Pulaski; Mrs. Earl S. Pannell, Cambria; one brother, Joe W. Ratcliff, Radford. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack Weikel officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visiting will be held Tuesday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
