BOARD, MARY A.

CHRISTIANSBURG - Mary Alma Board, age 81, died Monday, February 11, 1991, in the Montgomery Regional Hospital following an extended illness. She was born in Montgomery County, the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Clyde A. Weaver and attended public schools in Riner. She was an active member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees and boards. A graduate of Radford College, she retired in 1975 after twenty-seven years in the teaching profession at Auburn High School in Riner, Va. Mrs. Board was an active member and had held several offices in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include her sons, Joseph William Board, Pickens, S.C.; Harry Robert Board, Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Evans L. (Katie) King and Miss Margaret L. Weaver, both of Christiansburg; and five grandchildren. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday from the St. Paul United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Richard J. Geoghegan Jr. with burial in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church or to the charity of one's choice. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 Tuesday evening at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.
