READER GETS REFUND ON MAIL-ORDER FOOD

Q: I ordered almost $50 worth of merchandise from Figis Inc. in Marshfield, Wis., on Dec. 11. The food was never delivered nor have I received a refund. Can you help me get my money back? - Wanda Clear, Saltville

A: Quickline contacted Figis about this complaint, and we were told you received a refund on Feb. 1.

`Holes' recalled

Retailers have been asked to remove Life Savers Holes, the pellet-shaped version of the hard candies, from shelves because some consumers have swallowed or gagged on the packages' plastic tops.

Planters-Life Savers of Winston-Salem, N.C., is withdrawing the candies voluntarily and plans to have the candy back on sale in a newly designed package by summer, company officials said.

The four cases the company says have been reported involved teen-agers, none of whom was hurt. The youths apparently bit off the hinged plastic flip-top cap.

Consumers who want a refund should send the product and packaging to Consumer Information Services, P.O. Box 41, Winston-Salem, N.C., 27102-0064.

Planters-Life Savers is a division of RJR Nabisco.
