DEAF AWARNESS WEEK AT NRCC

New River Community College is observing "Deaf Awareness Week," Feb. 11-15.

The Sign Language Club and friends will have a cabaret today to highlight deaf culture and art. The performance is at 11 a.m. in the T.J. Anderson student lounge.

A sign language workshop will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the student lounge. The Sign Language Club will hold a bake sale in the lounge, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday.

At 7 p.m. Thursday in Richardson Auditorium, Sunshine Too theater group will perform skits and musical numbers with sign and voice. Sunshine Too is a professional group from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, N.Y. Admission is $3.50 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12. A shortened version of the Thursday show will be performed Friday at noon in the student lounge.

A Valentine's dance will be held Friday, 8 p.m.-midnight, in the lounge. Admission is $2 for singles; $3 for couples.
