TROOPS, TOO, ARE `INNOCENT VICTIMS'

I CANNOT perceive how lack of support for the policy of being at war can be interpreted as lack of support for our troops.

Notice that civilian casualties are referred to by the media as "innocent victims." Are not our troops, as well, innocent victims of a political regime in which our highly paid leaders in Washington failed to solve the Gulf crisis with any other number of options except war? Common sense would tell one that almost all of our troops in Saudi Arabia would prefer not to be at war, but are in no position to debate the issue. JOAN PHELPS HOT SPRINGS
