MARSHALL LEADS FLOYD TO ROMP OVER AUBURN

Dale Marshall scored 23 points and Floyd County dominated Auburn 88-69 in a Mountain Empire District boys' basketball game Tuesday night.

Travis Crawford added 15 points, Allen Thompson 13 and Mike Hylton 10 for Floyd (12-4 overall, 10-4 district), which led by 13 at halftime.

Brian Sale was the leading scorer for the Eagles (6-11, 6-9) with 23 points. Jeff Chandler added 12 and Jared Brunner 10.

\ Grayson County 61 Fort Chiswell 60 Devin Floyd made a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime, and the Blue Devils made their free throws in the extra period to win a wild one in the Mountain Empire District.

Scott Lyons made two free throws with three seconds left in the fourth quarter to give Fort Chiswell a 55-52 lead, but Floyd's bomb beat the buzzer to tie the score.

In overtime, Craig Hoffman scored four of his five points, nailing all four of his one-and-one free-throw attempts. Bonner Satterwhite also sank a pair in the extra period.

Kevin Tomlinson led Fort Chiswell (13-4, 12-4) with 16 points. Mike Adams and Chris Lampkins added 10 each.

Satterwhite finished with 16, Floyd 15 and Fred Werth 12 for Grayson County (12-5, 11-5).

The Pioneers attempted a shot to win in the final seconds, but missed.

\ Radford 69 Tazewell 64 The Bobcats overcame a 46-40 deficit with a 9-0 spurt in the third quarter and held off the Bulldogs behind 29 points from Chad Phillips.

Phillips had 11 points in the fourth quarter as Radford improved to 8-11. Radford made eight 3-pointers and Tazewell had none.

Tazewell, which got as close as 62-60 in the fourth quarter, is 8-9. Chris Webb scored 23 points to lead the Bulldogs.

Crist scored eight of his 20 points and Jennings had six of his 21 in the fourth as Jefferson Forest opened a big lead after leading only 55-54 early in the quarter. William Campbell (7-9, 7-9) was led by Warrick Easley with 19 points and James Morris with 16.

Dow finished with 20 points, including 16 in the second half, as Shawsville raised its record to 9-7, 8-7 in the Mountain Empire District. Narrows is 4-11, 4-11 despite 23 points from Richard Dent.

Dow's basket gave Shawsville its only lead of the night.
