OCCIDENTAL TO CUT 1,000 MORE JOBS

In its second major layoff in less than two years, Occidental Petroleum Corp. says it will cut at least 1,000 jobs worldwide to save $100 million a year.

The move announced Wednesday is the first major step toward implementing a restructuring announced by new Chairman Ray Irani in January, following the December death of long-time Occidental head Armand Hammer. - Los Angeles Daily News
