ROCKETS HOLD BACK MAROON TIDE 70-47

Clinton Kegley scored 16 points and Bland used a big first half to beat Galax 70-47 in a Mountain Empire District boys' basketball game Wednesday night.

David King had 13 points and Patrick Smith added 12 for the Rockets, who led 15-8 in the first quarter on the way to a 39-22 halftime lead.

Jeff Spells led the Maroon Tide (5-12, 5-10) with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
