WOMAN CHARGED WITH KILLING MAN IN MARTINSVILLE

A 34-year-old Martinsville woman was charged Wednesday in the killing of a man at her home Saturday.

Deborah Naomi Martin of Cardinal Lane faces a murder charge in the stabbing death of Ronald Glenn Brooks, 27.

Brooks, who lived in Bassett, was stabbed several times, said Martinsville Police Investigator M.A. Cole.

Martin was not at home when police found Brooks' body in a front room about 11 a.m. She turned herself in at the Martinsville Police Station on Wednesday, Cole said.

She was released on $3,000 bond.

Police said they had some trouble questioning her because she cannot hear or speak. Cole said an interpreter was brought in to conduct an interview.
