Alva Houston Shepherd, age 75, of 3051 Glasgow Road, died Thursday, February 14, 1991, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was a retired railroad foreman at Radford Army Ammunition Plant and is survived by his wife, Frances Elizabeth Shepherd; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy W. and Juanita Shepherd, Salem; Donnie L. and Martha Shepherd of Blacksburg; five brothers, Harry Shepherd of McCoy, Ed Shepherd, Minor Shepherd, Aaron Shepherd, all of Christiansburg; Hobert Shepherd, Roanoke; two sisters, Neda Snyder, Salem; Louvinia Foster, Parrott; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Nathan Phillips with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 Friday evening at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg.
