KNIGHTS UPSET BY E.C. GLASS

LYNCHBURG - Melanie Paris scored 12 points and Shanata Rhoades added 10 as E.C. Glass upset Cave Spring 49-48 in a non-district girls' high school basketball game on Thursday night.

With the Hilltoppers trailing 48-46, Rhoades converted a three-point play with 21 seconds remaining to put E.C. Glass ahead. The Knights (17-2) couldn't get off a shot in the final seconds.

Ali Colgrove scored 17 for the Knights.

\ William Fleming girls whip Patriots 50-34

\ William Fleming's Regina Fields and Marqueetta Randolph combined for 36 points, more than the entire Patrick Henry team, as the Colonels whipped the Patriots 50-34 in a Roanoke Valley District girls' high school basketball game Thursday night.

Fields scored 19 points and Randolph had 17 for Fleming, which led 22-5 at halftime.

Kim Saunders put in a game-high 21 points for the Patriots (7-12, 1-9).

\ SHAWSVILLE - Kenny Dow scored 18 of his game-high 24 points in the second half as Shawsville pulled away for a 70-45 non-district boys' basketball victory over Roanoke Catholic on Thursday.

Roanoke Catholic played Shawsville (10-7) close, trailing by four points at halftime. The Shawnees outscored the Celtics 19-14 in the third quarter and put away the game in the fourth with a 25-9 run led by 11 points from Dow.
