W&L GRAD AMONG WAR CASUALTIES

A 1984 Washington and Lee University graduate is among the U.S. casualties in Operation Desert Storm.

David R. "Chip" Herr was killed when the helicopter he was flying crashed in southeastern Saudi Arabia on Feb. 4.

Officials reported that the crash was not combat related. Herr, a resident of Fort Worth, Texas, was a geology major at W&L.
