CHRISTIANSBURG - James Kenneth Sutphin, age 81, of Route 114 died Thursday morning, February 14, 1991 in Radford Community Hospital. He retried from Lynchburg Foundry in May 1974. He was a beloved husband, dad, and granddad and leaves to mourn many loved ones. He was preceded in death by two sons, Chester Wayne (Bud) Sutphin and Jimmy Lee (Mickey) Sutphin. Surviving are his wife, Viola Riddle Sutphin; daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred S. and Ben Burk, Doris S. and Carl Ratcliffe, Dreama S. and Randall Epperly, all of Christiansburg; Shirley S. Richardson, Salem; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Cullen Sutphin, Everett (Eudie) Sutphin, both of Pulaski; two sisters, Lita Ritter, Pulaski, Treval Gibson, Salem. The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 1991 from the Fairlawn Grace Brethren Church conducted by Rev. Lester Kennedy with burial in Belmont Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.
