TAZEWELL BOARD SEEKS UNIFIED SEAT

The Tazewell County Board of Supervisors is asking state officials to put the county into a single legislative district when new lines are drawn.

The county has been divided among three legislative districts for 10 years. County representatives voiced objections to that arrangement at a regional redistricting session held in Abingdon on Dec. 13. That meeting was called by joint legislative panels in charge of redistricting.

Copies of the board's resolution will go to Dels. Bud Phillips, Jackie Stump and Barbara Stafford, each of whom represents a portion of Tazewell County.
