HERBERG LAPS FIELD FOR 1ST WIN

Scott Herberg of Lake Norman, N.C., won his first auto race Friday, and it was a runaway victory.

He crossed the finish line two laps ahead of the rest of the field in the 13th annual Florida 200 NASCAR Dash series race at Daytona International Speedway.

Herberg won the race after stronger cars broke, including those of pole-sitter Mike Swain, Gary Wade Finley, Lee Farthing and Robert Huffman.

"I just couldn't believe it when I saw all the cars falling out," said Herberg. "I couldn't figure out what was happening. I just hoped it wouldn't happen to me."

There were 12 lead changes among five drivers in the 80-lap race.
