ROANOKE GAS HEARING SET JULY 9

Roanoke Gas Co. will have to wait until summer for a hearing on its $1.2 million rate hike request. The State Corporation Commission said Friday it has scheduled to listen to the company's petition for a 2.6 percent increase at 10 a.m., July 9. The session will be at the Jefferson Building in Richmond.

But under SCC procedure, the company expects to be allowed to implement the increase about June 15, said company president Frank Farmer. It is expected to add $4.28 to a typical customer's monthly bill of $79.47. If the increase is not approved, the company would be required to refund that amount.

Comment on the application should be sent to the SCC clerk's office, P.O. Box 2118, Richmond 23216. Reference should be made to the case number, PUE910002, the SCC said.
