MAN KILLED IN WRECK NEAR EAGLE ROCK

A Clifton Forge man died Thursday when his car slammed into a tree on U.S. 220, north of Eagle Rock in Botetourt County.

Jerome Lawrence Allen, 36, lost control of the vehicle at a curve near Virginia 722 at 8:25 p.m., state police said.

The car bounced off one tree on the left side of the highway and slammed sideways into another tree, police said. Authorities could not determine whether Allen had been wearing a seat belt.
