The team met Wednesday night in Washington, D.C., with attorney Arthur Bryant of the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, a public interest law firm, team members and Bryant said.
Bryant helped reinstate women's basketball at the University of Oklahoma last spring, just eight days after it had been eliminated. He also was the attorney in a 1987 case that forced Temple University to provide equality for women in its athletic programs.
Angie Evans, a senior and one of the team's three captains, said, "Right now we are gathering all the information we can, and we're exploring our legal options. We got the team acquainted with the lawyer, told him our concerns and he said we had justifiable concerns.
"The biggest thing that came about last night was that as a team we decided we weren't going to accept the decision" to terminate the program.
On Tuesday, William and Mary officials announced the cancellation of women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and the school's wrestling programs. - Associated Press
