SHAWNEES WIN, RAISE $2,200 FOR EX=TEAMMATE

It was "Brian Sisson Night" at Shawsville High's gym, and the Shawnees defeated Rocky Gap 51-46 in a Mountain Empire District boys' basketball game with their injured former teammate at courtside.

Sisson, a Shawsville senior who played basketball a year ago, was injured in a hunting accident in October. The benefit game for Sisson, now a paraplegic, raised $2,200.

The Shawnees (11-7 overall, 9-7 in the district) led by 13 points early in the third quarter, but Rocky Gap (2-16, 1-15) rallied to cut the difference to four in the final minutes. Shawsville, led by Kenny Dow's 15 points and 15 rebounds, held on to win.

Wes Mullins added 11 points for Shawsville.

The Indians were led by Dallas Bradshaw's 17 points.
