INSPECTOR: FALLEN WALL POORLY BRACED

A cinder-block wall that collapsed in a windstorm Thursday, killing one construction worker and injuring nine, was not properly braced, a building inspector said Friday.

The wall apparently did not have an adequate number of wood braces, said Brian Smith, deputy director for Fairfax County's division of inspection services.

Smith said no building-code violations have been found in the construction of the wall.
