NORTHERN VA. CALLED MAJOR HEROIN SITE

Northern Virginia has become a major entry point for an increasing amount of potent smuggled heroin, a federal prosecutor said Friday.

"There does seem to be an increasing amount of heroin coming into the Northern Virginia area, but the problem is, I don't know where it's going," U.S. Attorney Henry Hudson said.

Federal agents last year charged a number of heroin traffickers here and are tracking several rings with ties to Lebanon, Lagos, Nigeria, and Frankfurt - points that appear to be drug-smuggling hubs.
