COVINGTON BREAKS JAMES RIVER STREAK

COVINGTON - A 10-0 Covington run in the fourth quarter sparked the Cougars to a 76-62 Pioneer District boys' basketball win against James River, ending the Knights' 10-game winning streak and putting Covington in a tie for first place in the district with one league game left.

On Tuesday, Covington (13-6 overall, 13-4 in the district) is at Natural Bridge and James River (13-6, 13-4) is at Lexington. Both Covington and James River have lost once this year to their upcoming opponent.

If the teams tie for the district title, a one-game playoff will be held at a neutral site.
