The symposium has three concurrent sessions throughout the weekend, featuring presentations by 20 college and university faculty. The keynote speaker is Robert D. Richardson Jr., a specialist in American transcendentalism.
Sessions begin April 12 at 9:30 a.m. The keynote address is at 11 a.m. "The Night Thoreau Spent In Jail," will be presented by Playmakers, Inc. that evening. Saturday, the symposium continues with sessions from 9 a.m. to noon.
Registration is $35. Organizers recommend registration be made six weeks before the symposium by sending checks payable to Virginia Humanities Conference to: Peggy Dalton, New River Community College, P.O. Drawer 1127, Dublin, Va. 24084.
