CELTICS FALL IN BLUE RIDGE

Kelly Desaegher scored 14 points as Lynchburg Christian downed Roanoke Catholic for the Blue Ridge Conference basketball championship Saturday at Timberlake Christian.

Shannon Simpson had 12 points to lead the Celtics (17-5). Lynchburg Christian finished its season at 19-1.

Simpson and teammate Carol Sweeney were named to the all-conference team, along with Brandi Surkamer and Jackie Ronning of Roanoke Valley Christian, and North Cross' Michelle Esguerra.

Surkamer, Simpson and Sweeney also made the all-tournament team, and Roanoke Catholic coach Caroline Kimbleton was honored as the coach of the year.

In the third place game, Susan Ashley scored a game-high 27 points to led Timberlake Christian to a 58-38 victory over Roanoke Valley Christian.
