CUNNINGHAM-SCHMIDT

Heidi Louise Schmidt and Jay L. Cunningham were married December 28, 1990, in Second Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Roy L. Cunningham, father of the groom, officiating. The reception was held at the church fellowship hall. The maid of honor was Heather Hudson of Radford, Va. Bridesmaid was Elizabeth Anne Book, cousin of the bride, of Severna Park, Md. Junior bridesmaid was Kendra Cunningham, niece of the groom, of Ellicot City, Md. The bride wore a ballerina length antique formal gown of Chantilly lace. She carried a bouquet of Calla Lillies, miniature carnations and ivy. Her attendants wore tea length black velvet dresses and carried bouquets of miniature carnations, statice and ivy.

The best man was John Whale, III, of Roanoke, Va. Groomsman was Matthew McKown, of Charlottesville, Va. Junior groomsman was Damian Cunningham, nephew of the groom, of Ellicot City, Md. Ushers were Gary Cunningham, of Inyokern, California and Roger Park-Cunningham of Watertowne, New York, brothers of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark C. Schmidt of Roanoke, Va. and the granddaughter of Gertrude A. Schmidt, of Umatilla, Fla. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School and is a Junior at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

The groom is the son of the Rev. Roy L. Cunningham and N. Jo Cunningham, both of Roanoke, Va. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School and is a Junior at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Sate University. He is employed by Blacksburg Transit Company. The couple honeymooned in Warm Springs, Va. and now reside in Blacksburg, Va.
