OBIT-SHANKS, O.

NATURAL BRIDGE STATION - Odell Paxton Shanks, age 65, died Saturday, February 16, 1991, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Mr. Shanks was born December 1, 1925, in Rockbridge County, a son of the late John Shanks and Ruby Lane Shanks. He was a member of the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church and was retired from General Shale after 45 years service. Surviving are his wife, Minnie Hickman Shanks; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Marshall Bowyer, Natural Bridge Station; two grandchildren, Fred and Brittany Bowyer at home; two sisters, Lillian McDaniel, Buena Vista; Edith McDaniel, Glasgow; three brothers, Ralph Shanks, Buchanan; Burley Shanks and Raymond Shanks, both of Natural Bridge Station. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 1991, at the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. William Thomas and Dr. Frederick Ritsch III. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
