"We're not discouraging people from displaying yellow ribbons on private property," Mayor Liz Schweitzer said. "I can't believe that people would disagree that it's inappropriate to display these type symbols on public property."
The policy adopted by the City Council last Tuesday appears unpopular.
"We probably had about 50 calls," city spokeswoman Dawn Flynn said. "Last time I heard, one caller supported it."
