GROUND-BREAKING SET FOR BIG BOY

Big Boy restaurant officials will break ground Thursday for a restaurant on U.S. 460 next to the Comfort Inn.

Manager Mark Henderson said the 170-seat restaurant is scheduled to open July 1 and will employ about 60 people.

The franchise restaurant is owned by a limited partnership headed by Blacksburg developer Herbert Alcorn Sr.

The family-style, full-service restaurant will feature a greenhouse dining area and a "health smart" section which will cater to the calorie-conscience, Henderson said.

Big Boy will serve breakfast starting at 6 a.m., lunch and dinner, and will be open seven days a week, he said.

The public is welcome to attend the ground-breaking ceremony at 11 a.m. at the site.
