Ruffus Alonzo (Lonnie) Duggins, age 75, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday in a local hospital. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from the Smithsonian Institution. Surviving are his wife, Virginia V. Duggins; a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Sandra Duggins, Vinton; a grandson, Greg A. Duggins; a brother, Jesse W. Duggins, Salem; two sisters, Margaret Surrette, Long Island, N.Y.; and Mrs. Bill (Juanita) Thomas, Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday from Oakey's North Chapel with Rev. Randy Garner officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Burial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel.
