The award's purpose is to recognize a business or industry's outstanding contributions to the areas of fine arts, dropout prevention, mentorships, tutoring, educational partnerships, student internships, vocational or business education, or any other educational program.
Nominees for the award must be individuals that have shown a commitment within the last year to Montgomery County schools, grades K-12, in the form of number of hours volunteered and the number of employees who have volunteered.
Also, the individuals must show how effectively they have involved a variety of resources to give students a broader, more direct link to the community and the world. This includes host tours, speakers, curriculum design, tutors, etc.
And finally, the individuals must have assisted with programs that have had a direct impact on students in their achievements, attitudes, career awareness, attendance, etc.
