BASF Corp. said Thursday it will move its fibers division headquarters in Williamsburg to Charlotte, N.C., in the summer of 1993. About 300 employees work at Williamsburg, which has been division headquarters since 1966.

\ Sears, Roebuck & Co., which recently denied that it had planned to sell or close its catalog operation, is "very optimistic" but has conceded in a story Thursday in The Wall Street Journal that the catalog could be eliminated if efforts to turn it around financially are unsuccessful.
