BIRDS' WINTER SURVIVAL WILL BE TOPIC OF LECTURE AND TRIP NEXT WEEK

How birds survive in the winter will be the subject of a lecture and field trip next week, sponsored by the Virginia Tech branch of the Virginia Museum of Natural History.

The lecture, by Curt Adkisson, is Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the museum. Adkisson is the curator of ornithology at Virginia Tech. The field trip, to see birds in typical winter habitats around Blacksburg, will leave the museum at 8 a.m. next Saturday.

The lecture is free and open to the public. There is a $5 fee for the field trip, and participants must be at least 6 years old.

To sign up for the field trip, call 231-3001. The museum is at 428 N. Main St.
