ANTICIPATE RETURN OF HOTEL ROANOKE

PLEASE DON'T detonate Hotel Roanoke (Cecil Edmonds' commentary, Jan. 30)! Many of us have only fond memories of happy occasions enjoyed there.

Mr. Edmonds remembers making dinner reservations in the Crystal Ballroom with great expectations whenever there was an important occasion or visitor in town, only to be greeted with delayed food of dubious quality. Strange that he would use the ballroom, which was more suitable for large gatherings such as conventions, business and civic meetings, wedding receptions, etc.

The Regency Room would have been far more appropriate for a small dinner party, with its friendly staff, good food, excellent service and yes, Frank Romano at the piano. I look forward to the day when Hotel Roanoke will once again be a vibrant part of the business and social life of the Roanoke Valley. JACK K. PERSINGER COVINGTON
