OVER-THE-COUNTER TICKETS GO ON SALE

The Roanoke Civic Center box office and Virginia Tech's ticket office at Cassell Coliseum will begin over-the-counter sales of Metro Conference basketball tournament tickets Monday.

Only ticket orders have been taken until now. Virginia Tech ticket manager Tom McNeer said pre-tournament ticket orders, taken since November, were mailed Friday.

A ticket book, including all seven games of next week's tournament at the civic center, costs $87. McNeer said about 5,500 of the 9,348 seats available for sale have been ordered.

Starting Monday, purchasers may select their seat locations at the ticket windows at the civic center and Cassell Coliseum.

The eight-team tournament is scheduled March 7-9. - Staff report
