BULLS, ROCKETS ROLL INTO BIDDY TITLE GAME

The North Roanoke Bulls and Williamson Road Rockets won their way into the Biddy League championship today with semifinal victories Saturday in the Williamson Road Recreation Club's Biddy/Midget League Invitational at Breckinridge Junior High.

Jason Underwood's 16 points led North Roanoke to a 24-18 victory over the WRRC Cruisers in one Biddy semifinal. WRRC's Rockets routed the North Roanoke Rockets 27-9 as Brandon Welch had 12 points in the other semifinal. The teams will meet for the title today at 3 p.m.

The Williamson Road Hornets will play the Southwest Supersonics at 1 p.m. and the Wilmont Rockets will meet the Cave Spring Scouts at 2 in the Midget League semifinals.

In Friday's quarterfinals, the Hornets beat the Cave Spring Bullets 56-25 behind Michael Yates' 22 points; the Supersonics edged the Vinton Cavaliers 42-41 as Justin Shirley scored 21; the Rockets topped the Mount Pleasant Pistons 24-19 behind James Hickenbotham's 10 points; and the Scouts stopped the Williamson Road Sixers 38-32 as Billy Jones scored 20.

The Midget final is at 6 p.m., and the girls' final is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. - Staff report
