LINDSAY, GEORGE W.

George W. (Will) Lindsay, age 77, of Salem, died Monday at the Roanoke United Methodist Home. He was born April 22, 1913 a son of John Henry and Susie T. Lindsay. He was the retired president-treasurer of Virginia Markets. He was a retired Lt. Col. of Quartermaster Corp U.S. Army and served in Africa, Sicily, and Italy during World War II. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Military Order of World Wars. He was treasurer of the Salem Rotary Club, a member of Hidden Valley Country Club, and belong to the Taylor Masonic Lodge in Salem. Surviving are his wife, Blanche H. Lindsay of the home; a sister, Dorothy L. Cawthorne of Lynchburg; a brother, Jack R. Lindsay of Apple Valley, Calif.; and six nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Salem at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 28 with the Rev. James G. Holloman. The family will greet friends in the church parlor after the memorial service. Memorials may be directed to the Salem Rescue Squad or the First United Methodist Church, Salem.
