DAN RIVER, F-C ADVANCE IN PIEDMONT

Dan River and Fieldale-Collinsville scored wins Monday night in the first-round of the Piedmont District boys' basketball tournament at Bassett High.

Thad Wade scored 22 points to lead Fieldale-Collinsville to a 72-71 overtime win over Chatham. Cornel Fitzgerald scored 24 and Sonny Motley added 18 as Dan River downed Patrick County 71-50 in the other first-rounder.

F-C advances to meet regular-season champion Laurel Park tonight at 6:30. Dan River moves on to face Martinsville at 6:30 on Wednesday.
