BLACKSBURG - Mrs. Vera Arrington Hammer, died Tuesday, February 26, 1991, in Montgomery Regional Hospital after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Hammer, a long time resident of Blacksburg. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Lee Hamer Jr., Forest Virginia; three grandsons, Jeffrey Todd Hammer, Alpharetta, Ga.; Christopher Steven Hammer, Franklin, Va.; James Nathaniel Hammer, Blacksburg; one sister, Ethel Massie, Roanoke. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 28, 11:00 a.m. at the Blacksburg United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jack Minnick will officiate. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blacksburg United Methodist Church, Church Street, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 to 5:00 at Hoy-McCoy Funeral Home.
