SALES STILL SLOW ON METRO TICKETS

Eight days before the 16th annual Metro Conference basketball tournament tips off at the Roanoke Civic Center, ticket sales remain sluggish.

Tech ticket manager Tom McNeer said Tuesday that 5,700 tickets have been sold for the '91 Metro, which is scheduled March 7-9.

Ticket books, for all seven games, are priced at $87 and are available at the civic center box office and Tech's campus athletic ticket office at Cassell Coliseum.

In the last two weeks, 305 tickets have been sold - 134 by Tech, 100 by Florida State, 36 at the civic center box office and 35 in corporate sponsorship packages.

The civic center will seat 9,843 for the tournament. Subtracting seats allocated for pep bands and players, 9,661 seats are available for sale.

Single-session tickets are not on sale.
