FOR THE RECORD
Dr. Paul Donohue incorrectly used the term "placenta previa" for "abruptio
placentae" in last Friday's column in the Extra section. The conditions are
different. Placenta previa is the condition where the placenta is improperly
implanted in the lower uterus. In abruptio placentae, which was described in
the item in question, the placenta prematurely separates from the uterus.
