The centers had been scheduled for closing under Gov. Douglas Wilder's budget cuts.
Three are in Southwest Virginia - on Interstate 81 at the Tennessee border near Bristol, on Interstate 77 at the West Virginia border in Bland County and on I-77 at the North Carolina border in Carroll County.
John Watt, a spokesman at the Division of Tourism in Richmond, said operation of the centers would be funded in partnership with businesses.
Fees will be collected for displaying brochures and promotional materials. Watt said operational costs will be divided almost 50-50 between the state and private businesses.
Two of the four state employees at each of the 10 centers were laid off last year when the cuts began. The centers will continue to be operated by the remaining two employees on a full schedule, eight hours a day all week long.
