COUNCIL GETS PROJECTS LIST IN BEDFORD

City Council started the budget-making season Tuesday night by considering a proposed $347,800 capital projects budget.

Presenting his proposed list of projects, City Manager Jack Gross said it reflected a 61 percent decrease in planned spending on capital purchases from this year.

That, he said, was "indicative of the fact that the revenue stream will very much reduced."

Proposed projects included $175,000 for street repair, removal of fuel tanks and the city's farmers market.

The budget also marks $45,000 for asbestos removal in the city's yellow stucco building, $25,000 toward a new aerial ladder for the fire department, $16,500 for the police department and $22,000 toward city cemetery projects.

Another $33,800 would go to parks and recreation projects, including computer equipment, a bus and a copying machine. And $17,500 would be used for a new roof on the electric department office.
