SOME RETIREES LUCKIER

About 50 Roanoke area retirees of Local No. 980 of the Construction and General Laborers Union will get 22 percent increases in their pension checks next month because the pension fund investments have fared well, the union said Wednesday.

The increase amounted to $159 per month for one pensioner, said Rhonda St.Clair with Lawrence Musgrove and Associates, administrator of the fund. The increase is retroactive to October 1989. - Staff report
