ETSU STANDOUT HEADS ALL-SOUTHERN CONFERENCE

Keith Jennings of East Tennessee State was a unanimous selection to the all-Southern Conference basketball team announced Wednesday by the Southern Conference Sports Media Association.

Jennings, a 5-foot-7 senior, was a first-team choice on all 59 ballots cast.

Jennings leads the nation in 3-point shooting percentage at .610 while averaging 16.9 points per game. He ranks third on the all-time NCAA list for assists with 943.

Marshall guard John Taft, two-time conference player of the year, was listed on 57 ballots. He won his third straight league scoring title with a 27.3-point average.

The first team also included Keith Nelson of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Bruce Evans of Furman and Derrick Kirce of Tennessee-Chattanooga.

Western Carolina's Terry Boyd paced the second team. He was second in the scoring race with a 23-point average.

Also on the second team were Steve Spurlock of Appalachian State, Calvin Talford of East Tennessee State, Greg Fittz of VMI and Chris Bass of Furman. - Associated Press
